IT HAS been a passion of mine to promote healthy living.
I’ve got children and I remember trying to find clubs and things – the council website wasn’t up to date.
It was a multitude of things and I thought we need to put something together for the community.
The Health and Wellbeing Festival will bring businesses together, so people know what’s available but also to educate people in a fun way.
It is on June 29 at Thorngate Halls, in Bury Road, Gosport, from 10am until 4pm.
It is a free event, with a raffle and activities on the day which are raising money for the charities we are supporting.
It will be an action packed day consisting of 40 local business stands, free fitness classes for all the family, health advice, nutrition advice and children’s activities.
There will be a presentation by Caroline Dinenage MP for a poster competition that we are running for local children.
Plus we have a raffle and more to be confirmed.
It’s been really well received with local clubs.
We’re already planning another for the autumn.
Our next step is to form a website, which will be a go-to place to visit.
It’s letting people have a one-stop shop for somewhere to go and stay healthy – it’s not all about spending money and joining clubs.
There are several things that are going on, especially with schools and the NHS.
We want to pool it all together.
We don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, we just want to bring it all together in one focal point, and put events on there and let the community use it.
