Best Film 2010
A documentary about how Southsea seafront is coping with the erosion of seaside traditions and the current economic climate won Best Film.
Director, Russell Oastler had previously been runner-up in 2008 and shortlisted in 2009.
He and David Kinnaird, who also came to collect the award, have both just graduated with a BA (Hons) in Television And Film Production and are now working on a documentary for the University of Portsmouth, where they studied.
Russell said: 'We weren't sure Last Resort would be well received. It's not that it paints Southsea in a bad light, but it says things are not as good as they were years ago.
'But it is also about community spirit.
'Our thanks go to all the local people who worked on the film. We met some really nice people and we really connected with them.
'Thanks too to Ben Thompson, our course leader, who was the film's producer. And thanks to everyone on our course.'
Runner-up was Send In The Cops, a comedy where the law wears big shoes and red noses – the cops are literally a bunch of clowns.
