HOMEOWNERS at Churchill Retirement Living’s Summerson Lodge in Portsmouth have been busy putting their knitting skills to good use to help raise money for charity Age UK.

To support Age UK and Innocent’s Big Knit, owners at Summerson Lodge in Alverstone Road, Southsea, and their friends have knitted little woolly hats which will adorn Innocent smoothie bottles in February 2015.

For every bottle of smoothie sold with a hat, Innocent will donate 25p to help Age UK support older people in winter.

Churchill Retirement Living’s Lodges across the country have been taking part and together have knitted 870 woolly hats.

Spencer McCarthy, chairman and group managing director for Churchill Retirement Living, said: ‘We are very proud of our owners and their Big Knit efforts.

‘Churchill Retirement Living is delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause. The money raised goes to support vulnerable older people, which is something we care deeply about.’
