IT’S A very special year for a blind charity as it celebrates its 90th birthday.

Open Sight helps blind and visually-impaired people.

It provides advice and information on a range of topics such as disability allowance.

Yesterday a get-together was held at the Saint Columba Church Hall, Hillson Drive, Fareham.

Linda Phear, vice chairwoman of the trustees for Open Sight, said: ‘There were cakes and nibbles to enjoy. We had a lovely time and there were about 30 of us, which was wonderful.

‘The deputy mayor for Fareham, Councillor Dennis Steadman also came and took time to speak to people and see what we’re about.’
