FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a blaze at Portsmouth’s disused Greyhound Stadium.

Three fire engines went to the old stadium in Target Road, Tipner, at about 3.30pm today after reports of a building on fire.

The wooden building, measuring 82ft by 20ft, was well alight.

Crews from Cosham and Southsea have been hosing down the fire, which created a large plume of smoke that could be seen for several miles.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
