MUMS all across Fareham received daffodil posies for Mother’s Day thanks to the hard work of a flower club.

Fareham Flower Club held a stall in Fareham Shopping Centre on Saturday making up posies.

The club sold them for the bargain price of £1 – most of which went to charity.

The flower club created hundreds of posies to raise money for Southampton Young Carers Project.

Club chairwoman Celia Pullen said: ‘It is nice for the children to come and buy something for Mother’s Day and it’s nice for us to raise money for charity.

‘A very kind nursery lets us have the flowers at a very reasonable price and we have a lovely group of ladies who come and support us.

‘Florists can be so expensive – this way we get to enjoy making the posies and raise money for a good cause.’

Project worker Hannah Moss, from Southampton Young Carers Project, was at the stand with some of the young carers who came along to lend a hand. Southampton Young Carers Project supports children and young people aged between eight and 18 who care for an unwell or disabled family member.

Ms Moss, 33, said: ‘It’s nice for them to learn a skill and for them to see there is support for them. The money we raise helps us to do activities to give the carers a break.’

Jack Foot paid a visit to the stand with his grandmother Peggy Tattersall.

Jack, 10, said: ‘They are good flowers, I’m going to give them to my mum.’

Fareham Flower Club meets at Wallington Village Hall on the second Thursday of every month at 7.15pm. For more go to nafas.org.uk.
