FITNESS fanatics will join in with Blue Day with a special blue-themed session.
Fit 4 Fun, a fitness group from Eastney Community Centre, is taking part in Blue Day which is being held on Friday.
The group will dress in blue, decorate the room in blue balloons and the members will make a donation in their fitness class on Thursday, with all the money going to the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.
The annual fundraising event sees people from across the area host blue-themed events in a bid to raise cash for the charity which was started in memory of Tom Prince.
He died of osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, a day before his 16th birthday in 2004.
Fit 4 Fun has been taking part in Blue Day since 2010 when the fitness instructor Alison Wright started working with Tom’s sister Emma.
Alison said: ‘I heard about the Trust from his sister and since then I have wanted to do something each year.
‘It’s an amazing way to bring the community together. I want to support the family in what they’re doing to raise the money for the research.
‘It brings the city together and raises awareness and it’s also a fun day.
‘I have the attitude “why not do it?”. It is for a great cause so why not?
‘It’s very much a city thing – they’re a local family so I think that makes the day even more special.
‘The girls are always supportive every year and they are so enthusiastic and positive.’
