Competitors faced a blustery start at the Great South Run in Portsmouth today.

Elite athletes, fundraisers and celebrities were among the 25,000 people expected to run the course.

Florence Kiplagat of Kenya won the women’s race and her fellow countryman Emmanuel Bett was the first man home.

Organisers have advised runners to take extra precautions in the bad weather.

Meanwhile, during the run a number of roads will be closed.
