Local politicians – including Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt and council leader Donna Jones – visited the ramps on Saturday.

Cllr Jones, who is also ward councillor for Hilsea, said: ‘We are dedicated to improving facilities and events in the north of the city, such as the hugely successful Summer Show and securing a sponsor for the bonfire.

‘This track will add to the already popular wakeboarding wire and the splashpool, and utilise the grass in front of the Lido.’

The track is open from 11am until 4pm every day until Thursday, April 7.
