One person has been taken to hospital after a bomb disposal truck and a car crashed in Portsmouth.

It happened at around 11am in Park Road, near Gunwharf Quays.

A photograph from the scene shows damage to the Royal Logistic Corps van, and a badly-damaged Ford Ka.

A second car was also damaged.

South Central Ambulance Service sent two ambulances to the scene, and has taken one person to hospital.

The nature of their injuries is not yet known.

The Army has confirmed the bomb disposal truck was not on a call at the time.

The News understands police were also called to the scene, but Hampshire Constabulary refused to comment.

Two fire engines from Southsea were also sent to the scene to help free a man from one of the vehicles.
