A RUSTY bomb was washed up by the tide on a beach.

Members of the Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team were called to Medmerry Beach, at Selsey, after reports a bomb had been found.

They were called at 1pm on Tuesday.

The area was cordoned off while they dealt with the bomb.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team took over and carried out a controlled explosion, making the area safe by 3.15pm.
