EIGHT wordsmiths from Hayling Island have come together to produce a charity anthology.

The writers, all women, have collaborated to produce ‘Pieces of Eight’, which includes a mix of stories and features.

The pieces include stories of murder, love and romance, nature, and an account of a First World War soldier in the trenches.

The anthology will raise money for Hayling RNLI.

Lesley Drew, a former journalist, said: ‘We wanted to do it for charity. We live on an island surrounded by water and one of the ladies’ sons is a lifeboat man, so it seemed the natural thing to do.’

The book will be launched at Hayling Golf Club next Friday and be available from The Hayling Island Bookshop in Mengham.
