A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy had to be freed from mud by the emergency services.

The water rescue unit from Fareham fire station was called out to Haslar Creek, near Walpole Park, Gosport on Saturday at 4pm.

The boy had become trapped in knee-deep mud while paddling in the water.

Firefighters, along with assistance from the Hill Head Coastguard, helped guide the boy to safety and to clean him down afterwards. He was unhurt.
