Around 500 took part in the Bridgemary Carnival on Saturday, parading through the streets of Gosport.

Youngsters put on fancy dress with everything from Oompa Loompas and Willy Wonka to two women dressed as giraffes on display.

Led by the Big Noise Community Samba Band, the procession left Bridgemary School, Wych Lane, at 11.30am.

It then went in a big loop via Brewers Lane, Nobes Avenue, Gregson Avenue and back to Wych Lane and the school.

Amina Johnson, 38, of Rowner Road, was with her son Diamond, nine, and said the carnival was ‘fantastic’.
