SANTA had a busy night as he appeared at two Christmas light switch-ons.
Festivities took place in Portchester precinct, in West Street, and the High Street, in Lee-on-the-Solent, last night.
For the first time, the Portchester Traders Association not only lit up a Christmas tree in the precinct, but raised enough money to light up all the surrounding trees, too.
School choirs sang carols, and the Mayor of Fareham Councillor Susan Bayford, switched on the lights.
Over in Lee-on-the-Solent, the light switch-on was witnessed by scores of people.
Michelle Hawkins, 37, of David Newberry Drive, went with her husband David, 36, and children Oliver, seven, and Isla, two.
She said: ‘It was great for the children and it’s good to do something locally.’
There was also a grotto, complete with Santa Claus and fake snow.
Children were able to go in and speak to Santa.
