A BENCH will not be replaced by a council after it was razed to the ground by arsonists.

The seat, at Stubbington Recreation Ground, in Stubbington, near Fareham, was set on fire on Thursday, June 19 at 1am.

Fareham Borough Council has now confirmed it will not be replacing it.

Ward councillor Christopher Ward said the arson attack was a disgrace.

He added: ‘These scumbags are a blight on our village.

‘If they had a brain cell they would be dangerous.’

Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership councillor Trevor Cartwright said that instances of antisocial behaviour were low in Stubbington.

Hampshire Constabulary said it is not investigating the incident.
