EXTRA park-and-ride buses will be put on to cater for visitors to the Victorian Festival of Christmas.

There will be buses every six minutes to and from the festive event at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard from Friday to Sunday.

Portsmouth City Council cabinet member for transport, Councillor Ken Ellcome, said: ‘We’re pleased to be working with the Historic Dockyard to help their visitors enjoy an easy way to park for the event.

‘Anyone driving into Portsmouth during the festive season should give park and ride a try.

‘Why spend your time in a queue when you could park and then catch a bus straight to the city centre, The Hard, or visit them both?’

There is also an extra evening service for Christmas shopping running until December 23.

This service runs every 30 minutes from 7.30pm each day except Sunday, with the last bus leaving the Hard at 9.15pm and the city centre at 9.20pm.

A day ticket for the park and ride costs £4.
