Acts revealed for Historic Dockyard music festival

STAR Charlotte Church will perform

STAR Charlotte Church will perform

TOP bands Maximo Park and The Feeling and singer Charlotte Church are to perform at a festival at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard over the August bank holiday.

Pop veterans Level 42 have also been confirmed as among the line-up for the Victorious Festival 2013.

The festival runs from 10am to midnight over the weekend with five stages of live music being available along with an indoor big top.

There will be a real ale and food festival accompanying the music as well as a children’s arena which will have free attractions and activities.

Bar and restaurant the Belle Isle, of Osborne Road, Southsea and The Boutique Market will be joining forces once again to welcome the return of the festival.

The Victorious Festival team want to see a continuation of the relaxed atmosphere from last year’s event which celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Ben Miles, events co-ordinator at the Belle Isle, said: ‘Expect big things. Working off the back of the hugely successful ‘Victorious Vintage’ jubilee weekend last year, we have been given permission to take things a step further.

‘Look forward to a festival that caters for all members of the family, young and old.

‘We learnt so much from last year’s event so we will be adding more, from markets to a huge children’s arena and plenty of other indoor entertainment just in case the great British summer turns up to wash us out.’

Festival-goers will enjoy an acoustic area laid with fake grass and deckchairs, an alcohol-free children’s area, street entertainers and local produce food stalls.

All these attractions will be fitting in with the maritime theme of the festival, in keeping with the famous naval attractions and traditions of Portsmouth and Southsea.

Lincoln Clarke, chief executive of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, said: ‘The festival will be a great addition to our events calendar, allowing us to showcase the attractions to an audience who might not come here often.

‘We are delighted to be working with local businesses.’

The Victorious Festival website will be updated as more acts are confirmed along with details of their performance dates. Tickets are available at victoriousfestival.co.uk
