SINKING your stiletto heels into grass at a garden party is a more upsetting experience than it may sound.

Ally Stevenson even went as far as placing bottle tops under her heels to avoid them being covered in mud.

The idea inspired the Stubbington mum of two to start her own business, Clean Heels.

Now, she is supplying products for 350 gift bags that will be given out at a VIP party at tonight’s Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles.

Among the stars invited to the party, organised by the British Consul, are Dame Judi Dench, Kate Winslet and Sandra Bullock.

The party, aimed at highlighting Britain’s trade offerings, is being hosted by Steve McQueen, who is nominated at this year’s Academy Awards for best director.

‘I got fed up of my heels getting wrecked,’ explained Ally, who founded Clean Heels in 2006.

‘I was working in fashion at the time for somebody else.

‘I thought it was a great idea and it would help so many women and it helps save your shoes.

‘I was asked if I would supply my product. They wanted British people to supply British products.

‘I think everyone should support UK businesses.

‘I think it’s absolutely brilliant that they are going in the goodie bag.

‘I have supplied to all sorts of people; it is being used by high society as well as everyday people.

‘It’s just lovely to have them go out to something like the Oscars. People don’t get that chance every day.

The heelstoppers slot on to the end of heels to give more surface area - making them less likely to sink into the ground.

Ally already has retailers such as BHS stocking the product, as well as bridal shops and online.

Her accessories are also sold overseas, in countries including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA.

The heelstoppers, as well as her Heel Sleeve product, are made from environmentally-friendly materials at a factory in Portsmouth.
