Apprentice takes new role

AN apprentice will gain managerial experience on a development in Lee-on-the-Solent.

Alex Cooksley, who lives in Alverstoke, has joined Barratt Homes as a trainee site manager on the Seacrest Gardens development.

Alex, 22, previously studied bricklaying at Highbury College before joining a local construction firm.

He said: ‘What attracted me to Barratt was the structure of the training and the prospect of a career. I receive excellent support and mentoring. It is a great place to work and they treat me very well.’

Anthony Dimmick, community liaison manager at Barratt Homes Southampton, added: ‘The construction industry has to invest in young people to ensure we have talented individuals for the future.

‘The building industry has high standards and there are excellent opportunities.’
