A BOUTIQUE care home has been short-listed for a design award.
Parker Meadows care home in Fareham has been nominated for a Pinders Design Award 2013.
To celebrate, Parker Meadows home manager Tracey Hillier presented a cheque for £500 to south west Alzheimer’s charity BRACE.
The Pinders Awards are national awards that recognise design excellence in healthcare. The £7m 80-bed home, on Redlands Lane, which opened last summer, impressed the judges and put Parker Meadows in the running for best New Build in Elderly Care.
Tracey said: ‘This home really does have the wow factor and when people walk through the door for the first time they can’t quite believe it’s a care home.
‘That’s because we took the best advice from dementia experts so that we could embed dementia design in a way that wasn’t intrusive.
‘Parker Meadows has the feeling of a welcoming home, somewhere you would feel it a pleasure to live.’
Everything at Parker Meadows has been built with residents living with dementia in mind and it combines boutique hotel design with leading-edge dementia and specialist care.
The Pinders Healthcare Design Awards ceremony will be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Friday, March 22.
