ANOTHER three million households face higher energy bills after EDF Energy became the latest supplier to increase tariffs.
The company will raise prices by 10.8 per cent, meaning its typical dual-fuel bill for a direct debit customer will rise by £122 to £1,251 a year.
EDF said the change will take effect from December 7, blaming wholesale energy price rises.
E.ON is the only big supplier not to have raised its prices, after promising it would freeze its tariffs this year.
EDF director Martin Lawrence said: ‘Our new prices will however be cheaper on average than those of all the other major suppliers which have announced standard price rises so far this autumn.’
SSE, which trades as Southern Electric, Swalec and Scottish Hydro, increased tariffs by 9 per cent on October 15.
Scottish Power announced plans to hike bills by an average seven per cent from December 3.
British Gas will impose an average increase of 6 per cent from November 16, with Npower planning an average rise of 8.8 per cent for gas and 9.1 per cent for electricity from November 26.
