Enjoy best of local produce at market

THE chairman of a business association says he thinks the town’s first ever farmer’s market will be a big boost for business.

Giles Babb, the landlord of The Bluebell, in Emsworth, has recently taken over as the head of the area’s business association.

On Saturday, Hampshire’s Farmers’ Market will set up stalls in Palmer’s Road car park.

The previous date in early January had to be cancelled because of the heavy snow.

Mr Babb said: ‘It’s a fantastic opportunity to come and see the best produce in Hampshire.

‘It’s also a chance for people to come to Emsworth and see the great unique shops we have here.

‘We’re hoping the market will bring new visitors to Emsworth who will come back again and again and encourage people to shop locally.’

Producers will be setting up stalls offering local produce from 10am until 2pm and there will also be a taste unit serving samples to try before buying.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to enter a competition to win a Hampshire Farmers’ Market hamper packed with local produce. More markets are planned.
