WHEN Nigel Taylor came back from a holiday to find that he’d been made redundant, he refused to be beaten.

He took his money and started Taylor Made Computer Solutions, a firm which manages IT systems for its customers.

That was back in 1994 when Nigel ran the firm out of his spare bedroom.

Now, 18 years later, the firm has more than 100 staff and is based at Cams Hall in Fareham.

And industry bible MSPMentor ranks Taylor Made 35th on its list of the world’s top 100 managed services providers for the work it does managing more than 6,000 IT devices for around 250 firms in the south.

Taylor Made’s high ranking places it alongside companies many times its size and turnover, making its success all the more remarkable.

The survey uses a complex analysis of more than 480 businesses, including revenue per employee, number of devices managed and other categories to determine an authoritative list of the top 100.

Mr Taylor said: ‘It’s like the actor once said, it’s an overnight success story that came after 18 years of hard work.

‘This is a huge deal for us.

‘To get here this quickly is fantastic because companies much, much bigger than us didn’t get close to the list.

‘This for us is second only to being named in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For, because that was down our staff.

‘We also won two European awards in Amsterdam at the end of last year, so to get this is just remarkable.’

Taylor Made Computer Solutions was given the accolade because of the quality of its work, both in terms of the reports it makes and the services it provides.
