HUNDREDS of people turned up to meet and speak to supervisors from First Bus ahead of changes to its services.

A team from First Bus Hampshire parked up in Commercial Road, in Portsmouth, to speak to the public and hear their views on the current buses and any concerns to changes.

As well as advice from the supervisors on routes and times, people could also pick up a free timetable with all the amended services.

Regular bus users Keith and Angela Hatcher thought the roadshow was a great idea.

Keith, 78, from Green Road in Southsea, said: ‘It’s great that people from First have come to meet us.

‘It is nice for people who use the service to speak to people face to face and find out what is going on.’

The changes to services will start on Sunday and Angela, 74, said it was good of First to hold the roadshow just before the changes start.

‘Meeting the people from First means we can look at the changes and ask their advice,’ she said.

‘Living in Southsea, it can be difficult getting to the hospitals so I asked them if the changes improved those routes. The event was a brilliant idea although I don’t know why they need to make all these changes all the time.’

Mavis Quicke agreed and said that all the changes made life a little more difficult.

The Waterlooville resident added: ‘Some of the new timings are quite inconvenient for myself and my neighbours. But I have been able to speak to the First people and tell them my problem with it and they have listened.’

A team from First Bus will be at West Street, in Fareham, today from 9am until 5pm to talk about changes to Gosport and Fareham services,

David York, supervisor, said: ‘The two roadshows are about meeting the people who use the services and giving them someone to speak to one on one and face to face.

‘There have been some concerns and we want people to understand why the changes have been made.’
