First employment fair is a success for its organisers

GOSPORT’S first Business and Employment Fair has been hailed a success.

More than 800 jobseekers attended the fair, which was held at the Thorngate Halls.

It showcased 30 key employers, ranging in sectors from defence, marine and engineering to health and housing providers.

Gosport mayor Chris Carter said: ‘Those looking for work or looking to start up their own business found lots of advice to help them and put them in touch with employers, and in some cases jobs, whilst for the businesses the benefit was two-fold.

‘For as well as headlining their business and recruiting new employees, many found they were forging new business contacts, something of immense help in these difficult economic times.’
