A HUGE solar farm producing enough energy to power 4,600 homes could be built to the north of Chichester.
Plans for the 68,676-module farm have been unveiled and would be built on two fields – one off Hunters Race and the other off West Stoke, Lavant.
A planning statement from developers Brilliant Harvest stated: ‘The solar park at Hunters Race has been specifically designed to maximise the amount of electrical hours of production per hectare.
‘Brilliant Harvest believes the solar park at Hunters Race will have the highest production per metre-squared in the county and will provide a benchmark for the future solar parks in terms of design, efficiency and environmental impact.
‘Modules have been chosen that have an anti-reflective coating and have a matt silver metallic trim to ensure that glint and glare are minimised.’
Lavant Parish Council is organising a public exhibition to give residents a chance to ask questions and get more information.
It comes as plans for a solar farm at Lovedean were approved last December. A bid to build a solar farm at Newlands Farm, near Fareham, was pulled at the last minute before a meeting last month.
