SUPERCARS including a Ferrari worth £1m were loaded into shipping containers in Portsmouth bound for the Caribbean.

Geest Line, whose headquarters are in Fareham, has been supporting Top Gear Festival transport its precious cargo to Barbados.

The cars, which include a Porsche, McLaren, Jaguar and BMW, were loaded into containers at Portsmouth International Port yesterday for the mid-May festival.

Captain Peter Dixon, managing director of Geest Line, said: ‘Geest Line has more than 50 years’ Caribbean experience in shipping everything from large project machinery to tiny perishables.

‘We’re thrilled to be working with our partners, the Barbados Tourism Authority, to support the Top Gear Festival Barbados.’

Following the festival, the Fareham company will ship the vehicles back to Britain.
