Ipswich game will go ahead despite bank account remaining frozen
ANDREW Andronikou has reassured fans that Tuesday’s Valentine’s Day match against Ipswich will be going ahead as planned.
Fears had been expressed that the club could not afford to put the match on, as its bank accounts are frozen and suppliers cannot be paid.
Mr Andronikou said: ‘Tuesday’s match will be going ahead and the club will be fulfilling its fixture list.’
With those fears allayed, the Pompey Supporters’ Trust is urging all fans to buy tickets for the match to help the Pack the Park campaign – publicised by the poster on the right - , which aims to raise a full house ahead of the HMRC hearing scheduled for February 20.
The trust’s spokesman, Scott Mclachlan, said: ‘The Pompey Supporters Trust is fully behind the Pack the Park rallying cry and want as many fans as possible to get down to Fratton on Tuesday night to roar on the team at this very difficult time.’
Manager Michael Appleton has previously called on all Pompey fans to get behind the club and support it by attending the match.
He said: ‘It’s important at times like this that we stand united for the sake of this great club. Supporters, staff, players and coaches – we are all in this together, feeling the same emotions and working for the same outcome.
‘Come along to Fratton Park, buy a ticket, buy a programme – whatever you can do, however big or small, it will all matter. Our fans are fantastic and it would be great to see Fratton Park full up with a brilliant atmosphere.
‘If ever there is a time we need our 12th man, it’s now. I’m sure they won’t let us down. They never do.’
On Tuesday night the police will not have to be paid, as they will not be in attendance.
The match has the lowest rating in terms of expected trouble, so will only be staffed by club stewards.
Supt Rick Burrows said: ‘There is no intelligence nor history to demand higher level policing resources. The next significant fixture is against Leeds United on February 25, by which time we will have a clearer picture as to the business position of the club.
‘We will continue to work closely with Portsmouth Football Club to ensure all fixtures are appropriately and proportionately policed.’
Meanwhile the Pompey’s 12th Man campaign, which aims at safeguarding the club’s future through a unified future fan involvement, has reached 5,000 members.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:19 AMThat means that policing levels will not be increased for this game, therefore no additional cost will be incurred by the club. Ipswich supporters have no history of wrong doing therefore the police force do not need to be unduly concerned.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:02 AMDont think it a good idea to report that will be no police in attendancee on tuesday (On Tuesday night the police will not have to be paid, as they will not be in attendance). As this now give the yobs the chance to get some action and maybee cause fights.
