Jobs fear at saucy lingerie plant

UP to 55 jobs are likely to go at Ann Summers' lingerie factory in Portsmouth.

Employees at the site in Gruneisen Road, Stamshaw, have been told they are facing redundancy in 30 days due to 'financial pressures'.

A letter from bosses of the racy underwear maker was handed out yesterday explaining it had become cheaper to buy in garments from abroad.

Although a month-long 'consultation' period was promised before any final decision is made, all staff in Stamshaw have been warned their jobs are likely to go.

It is feared the positions will be transferred to the Far East, where labour costs are a fraction of the UK price.
