A GOSPORT businesswoman is to be an inspiration for others, after being picked to star in a series of online adverts for the Prince’s Trust.
Kelly Fielding, 31, turned to the trust for help to start her fitness firm, Body Blast Boot Camp, when she was unemployed.
After getting a start-up loan of £1,900, her business has grown so that she now employs two staff members and runs fitness courses in five places across Hampshire –and is now the B in an A to Z of firms compiled by the trust.
She said: ‘I’m so happy that I’m self-employed. I should have tried to start my own business a long time ago but I wasn’t confident enough to take a chance on myself. The Prince’s Trust has given me the support I needed to make a business I am passionate about.’
Last month, the trust and RBS revealed that 47 per cent of young people in the south east think finding a job is harder than this time last year.
It also found more than two-thirds of young people in the region believe that setting up in business would give them a sense of achievement and purpose.
More than half – 52 per cent – think it is a viable route out of unemployment.
Ian Cowie, chief executive business and commercial at RBS, added: ‘At a time of high youth unemployment it is more important than ever to ensure young people have the right support available.
‘Kelly has turned her life around since setting up her business and is a real inspiration to others struggling with unemployment.’
