MP questions training

A LACK of training could mean Jobcentre staff are failing to spot people with literacy and numeracy problems, said Gosport’s MP.

Caroline Dinenage spoke in the House of Commons during questions to the Department for Work and Pensions.

She said: ‘Given one in six of the adult population is functionally illiterate, what training is provided to Jobcentre staff to help identify and signpost adults with issues?’

The government agreed it was an important issue.
