New division formed by firm to deal with floods

THE recent flooding problems in the region have resulted in a Segensworth company launching a dedicated flood team.

Environmental consultancy REC Ltd advises businesses on how they can minimise risk from any number of environmental factors.

The majority of the firm’s work has been in assisting the processing of planning applications, ensuring that when companies apply for planning consent they will not be breaching any rules relating to environmental issues from noise and air pollution to disturbing protected species.

As part of that the firm has always dealt with flooding, but it has now launched a division entirely dedicated to it, which will be headed by Laurence Waterhouse – a flood risk expert with 34 years’ experience in the field.

REC director Martin Dyer said: ‘While flood risk has traditionally been covered by our existing services, in light of recent UK events, we have taken the decision to launch a fully dedicated flood risk division.

The team will be based at the firm’s office in Segensworth Business Centre.
