JOBS are being created with the opening of a new approved used Volkswagen van dealer in Portsmouth.
Motoring group Breeze Volkswagen has signed a lease for two units, together taking up 7,000sq ft, on the Portfield Industrial Estate, off Airport Service Road in Hilsea.
Breeze Volkswagen will be moving into the two units at the end of March, and will create six jobs. As well as selling used vans, it will also include a service centre.
The family-owned Breeze Volkswagen was established in August 2000, and employs more than 200 people across both Hampshire and Dorset.
In October 2004 Breeze acquired the Volkswagen Van Centre in Totton, and in 2007 established trade parts centres in Bournemouth and Southampton, which supply trade parts for all Volkswagen group brands.
Tim Treweeks, head of business for the Southampton operation and the new facility, said: ‘Our new service centre at Portsmouth will provide the only approved facility for the servicing of Volkswagen commercial vehicles.
‘Our customers currently have to travel to Southampton and our new facility provides a great solution. We will also offer approved Volkswagen used vans and we anticipate growing this aspect of the business.
‘We very much look forward to looking after our customers in a manner that they both expect and deserve.
‘The property deal went through smoothly and we’re grateful to Hughes Ellard for the exemplary way matters were conducted on behalf of the landlord.’
Harnish Patel, agent for Hughes Ellard, which has its headquarters in Fareham, said: ‘Breeze is a well-respected name and the expansion is good news by way of jobs and consumer choice.’
In a separate deal on the same site, fitted kitchen wholesaler SDA Kitchens has let a 3,500sq ft unit.
