New market comes to Emsworth town centre

A FARMERS’ market is coming to Emsworth and is aimed at boosting trade for shopkeepers.

Hampshire Farmers’ Markets will be coming to the town in the New Year, setting up stalls offering local produce in Palmers Road car park from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, January 19.

Alex Handford, business manager of Hampshire Farmers’ Markets, said: ‘We are looking forward to working closely with the Emsworth community and retailers and to complement the established retail offering in the town.

‘Retailers in all of our market locations across Hampshire benefit from the additional shoppers that the markets help to attract and the coffee shops, pubs and restaurants also enjoy increased custom.

‘We are confident that Emsworth will benefit in the same way.’

Cookery demonstrations are planned, inviting chefs from local establishments to demonstrate their skills.

Mr Handford added: ‘The success of our markets is due to the enthusiasm and dedication of our many award-winning suppliers, as well as the growing interest in buying locally produced seasonal food.’
