Pals are getting ready to build on venue’s success

GROWING The Belle Isle in Southsea

GROWING The Belle Isle in Southsea

TWO Portsmouth restaurateurs are building on their success and opening a second venue in their chain.

Ben Miles and Andy March, who opened The Belle Isle in Southsea during the recession in 2009, are set to open a restaurant near Chichester Cathedral.

The Belle Isle at Chapel Street, as the restaurant will be known, will be open all day and late into the evening, seven days a week.

Their venture will create around 25 jobs and the restaurant will hold around 200 diners.

Ben said: ‘We have spent a lot of time in Chichester over the years, socialising, eating out and drinking. We pride ourselves on good-quality products, with locally-sourced ingredients. It is a big subject for us.

‘It is quite a privilege to be next to the cathedral as it’s the focal point of the community. All feedback we have received has been positive so far.’

Ben and Andy’s first venture was owning Little Johnny Russell’s, at the top of Albert Road in Southsea.

The new restaurant is set to open at the end of March, and the pair are appealing for local artists to come forward to help decorate it.

The décor of the new giant venue at Chapel Street features a sunny travel feel, mixed with local photography, art and adverts from Chichester and the surrounding area.

Andy and Ben are hoping to approach businesses and artists to put forward their designs for the new restaurant. If you are interested in submitting artwork or want to work in the kitchen or bar at the new Belle Isle, email info@thebelleisle.co.uk
