Portsmouth hotel scoops major awards at tourism ceremony

THE Portsmouth Marriott hotel has scooped awards at a prestigious tourism ceremony.

The Southampton Road hotel picked up the highly recommended award for large hotel of the year, the silver award for sustainable tourism, and highly recommended for outstanding customer service, at The Beautiful South Awards at Denbies in Dorking, Surrey.

The awards recognise businesses and destinations across the tourism industry for their exceptional levels of customer service and dedication to raising standards.

The winners were announced by hosts Ken Robinson, chairman of Tourism South East, and guest radio presenter Toby Anstis.

BJ Schreuder, general manager of Portsmouth Marriott, Craig Rawding, chief engineer, and Arthur Clelland, of guest relations, collected the award with members of the hotel team.

Mr Schreuder said he was proud of their achievements.

He said: ‘This is great recognition for the whole hotel team and something we can be proud of.

‘We received final nominations for three categories this year which was a lot more than we expected.

‘It shows the real commitment in the hotel to excel in everything we do on a daily basis to look after the customers or associates and our environment.

‘It is fantastic to get this confirmed by outside organisations and admired by colleagues in the industry.’
