Portsmouth City Council sets up safer internet workshops

AN INTERNET awareness day to help keep children safe online is taking place.

Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB) have joined forces to hold sessions throughout the area to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones among young people.

The workshops will run tomorrow, on Safer Internet Day.

Jimmy Doyle, chairman of the PSCB, said: ‘We know that e-safety and cyber–bullying is a concern for children, parents and carers in Portsmouth, as it is nationally.

‘We are therefore determined to help promote messages on making children safer online and are fully supportive of the important messages being given out tomorrow.’

The campaign will include roadshows in shopping centres, and safety online information at libraries. For more go to thinkuknow.co.uk/parents
