A LOCAL authority scheme hopes to save people money on their gas and electricity bills.
Switch Hampshire is run by the county council in partnership with other local authorities to help residents see if they can get a better deal on bills by switching supplier.
Executive member for income and capital resources Cllr Mel Kendal said: ‘Switch Hampshire could provide access to cheaper energy and has the potential to bring significant benefits to those on low incomes, including making a positive impact on their health and wellbeing.
‘It also offers an opportunity for greater savings for those who rely on electricity for heating and cooking because they are not connected to a mains gas supply.
‘The average figure residents’ saved on the most recent scheme was over £100, and with the recent increase in energy prices we expect a lot more people to switch with us in the New Year.’
The scheme opens today. Registration is free at hants.gov.uk/switch or by calling 01962 846828.
