Who will win cash payout?

PEOPLE in East Hampshire are being urged to have their say on which community groups benefit from a cash windfall.

Grants of between £250 and £1,000 will be awarded to local voluntary groups based on a series of polling events during March.

It comes after East Hampshire District Council’s community team secured a £17,500 grant from Hampshire County Council.

Councillor Julie Butler, in charge of communities, said: ‘This is a unique opportunity for members of the public decide on how and where the council should spend its money, a first for the council.

‘The public will be able to dictate which organisations they feel are most in need and deserve to receive the money locally. If successful, this could change the way the council awards grants in the future.’

A voting event takes place at Horndean Technology College on March 6 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
