As the centre reopened for the new year, Eniko Kocsis and Istvan Szucs returned in their new roles as service managers for the children’s and adults’ services, and we were delighted to welcome back a familiar face, Beata Ebhabha, as our conductor in charge of nursery.

We finished the month of January on a high note, with our third and best ever Burns Night, which was a complete sell-out with over 230 people raising more than £7,000, which is an absolutely fantastic achievement.

I am delighted to announce that the Masonic Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight have nominated The Rainbow Centre to go into a Community Awards regional draw along with seven other charities.

Every charity will receive a proportional donation depending on the total number of votes they receive. The highest award is for £25,000, decreasing in size down to £4,000.

Without a doubt, this is a phenomenal opportunity that The Rainbow Centre cannot afford to miss. Therefore, we are urging everyone to vote for us and share it with their friends: mcf.org.uk/communityawards.

We are also going to be hosting a Hungarian evening, in honour of the national holiday in Hungary.

It stands for democracy and freedom and it commemorates the Hungarian Revolution of 1848.

On the night, guests will be asked to gather for an opening performance by The Rainbow Centre conductors who are especially excited to show off their talent.

A nominee will read the Hungarian National Poem, a personal touch read every year at the Hungarian celebrations on Wednesday, March 15.

There will be a two course meal served on the night of traditional Beef Goulash followed by as much homemade cake as they can handle.

After dinner guests will be invited to the dance floor to learn a new way to dance taught to them by the masters.

By the end of the night everyone will be the best at Hungarian folk dancing as well. The room will be filled with everlasting traditional music from a live Hungarian band.

Tickets are already selling fast, so anyone interested in joining is encouraged to book tickets as soon as possible.

Tickets are £20 per person and can be purchased by visiting The Rainbow Centre website or calling 01239 289500.
