CADETS donated their time to help a charity wrap Christmas presents for disadvantaged children.

Warsash Sea Cadets helped charity Scratch, along with Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship, to package gifts.

The cadets from Warsash unit went to the charity’s depot, near Itchen bridge, and spent the day wrapping presents given by the public ready for delivery to children who wouldn’t normally receive a Christmas gift.

Commanding officer lieutenant Tony Thurgood said: ‘A major part of the sea cadets’ ethos is taking an active part in community activities, so I’m delighted our cadets willingly gave up their Saturday so close to Christmas to help others.’
