Business is hit by blaze

WHAT a tasty way to celebrate a milestone!

We teamed up with Portsmouth business Ruthie’s Cupcakes to give away specially-baked treats at our base at 1000 Lakeside.

The 50k cakes marked us gaining the 50,000th like on our Facebook page.

And the celebration went down well with readers.

Sarah Marriott, 36, watched her 21-month-old son Oliver Withers tuck into a cake and said: ‘It’s brilliant. Facebook is a great tool for promotion and if you get free cake, that’s even better!,

And George Hoskins, 18, added: ‘Social media is a good tool. You are aiming to get at consumers so it’s about spreading the word.

‘And I love free cake!’

Mark Acheson, head of digital for The News and portsmouth.co.uk, said: ‘It’s great to have clocked up 50,000 Facebook likes - and huge thanks to all our regular Facebook readers.

‘They give us comments, send us incredible pictures of this beautiful area, and help us raise the issues that matter.

‘If you haven’t already liked us, you’re just one click away from joining in!’
