A CAMPAIGN to recruit more volunteers will see activities take place in Portsmouth.

Starting on Wednesday, Volunteers Week will be encouraging people to consider working for charities and helping out in the community.

A number of activities will take place over a fortnight to promote volunteering opportunities in Portsmouth.

They are on:

n Thursday at Commercial Road between 11am and 3pm.

n Monday, June 6 at Central Library between 10.30am and 1pm

n Tuesday, June 7 at Palmerston Road between 11am and 3pm.

John Jenkins, a 90-year-old volunteer, said: ‘I’ve been volunteering for over 10 years at the D-Day Museum. I also used to volunteer at Fratton Park. I would recommend volunteering to anyone.’
