Brave Amy Wilton is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because she is taking on a daredevil challenge for charity.

Amy, 18, of Frosthole Crescent, Fareham, who has Type 1 diabetes, will abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Saturday, July 20.

She be joined by her friends Katie Frisby, 18, Scott Rushby, 19, and Joe Vickers, 20, from Fareham.

They’ll be doing it to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is trying to find a cure for the condition.

Amy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was five and is an ambassador for the charity.

‘We’re all really excited about the abseil next month,’ she says.

‘The nerves might kick in on the day though.

‘I am just so pleased I have the pleasure of doing it with three of my closest friends, and for a charity so close to my heart.

Talking about what’s like living with diabetes, she explains: ‘You have got to make sure you use the correct amount of insulin.

‘I inject four times a day. I have always been determined to not let the condition get in the way of what I want to do. I don’t want it to be a burden.’

Amy shared her story with US President Barack Obama at the charity’s US lobbying event Children’s Congress in 2008. To sponsor Amy and her friends, visit justgiving.com/JASK-JDRF-SpinnakerAbseil2013
