Book ahead for evening of black-tie glamour

This year's awards received a stunning response despite the recession.

Close to 100 entries were received and the crop was so strong that The News is extending the list of nominees from the traditional six in each category to 12 in Business and Small Business of the Year, and eight in all the others.

The awards ceremony takes place at Portsmouth Guildhall on January 28, 2010.

Tickets are 45 per head, and a full table of 10 is 450.

The black-tie evening includes a Buck's Fizz reception followed by a three-course meal in the main hall.

There the winners, runners-up and high commended contenders in each category will be announced.

The maximum capacity of the Guildhall is 500, and organisers expect attendance to be on a par with last year's near-capacity night, so early booking to secure tickets is recommended.

Doors to the Guildhall open at 7pm, and the evening is expected to conclude around 11pm.

Representatives of nominated businesses or other interested parties can claim tickets by e-mailing David Hoggarth of The News' promotions department at david.hoggarth@thenews.co.uk or on (023) 92 66 4488.
