Get to Fratton Park and back Pompey in person

SUPPORT The Fratton Faithful spell out the year 1898

Momentum gathered today ahead of Saturday’s Championship clash with Hull City.

The News alongside Pompey and the Pompey Supporters Trust are calling on all fans to get to Fratton Park to ‘Pack the Park’ - filling the ground to capacity for the club’s next two home games and beyond.

Together we are urging supporters who have drifted away this season or who are not always able to get to Fratton Park to ensure they do so during this difficult time for the club.

More than 4,100 people have pledged their backing to the Pompey 12th Man campaign.

The campaign aims to safeguard the club’s future by calling for more supporter involvement.

It was yesterday backed by Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt, who thanked fans for supporting the scheme.

Tom Dearie, vice chairman of the Pompey Supporters’ Trust, said the campaign is going well ahead of Saturday’s crucial game with Hull City.

He said: ‘We have spoken to Penny Mordaunt, who will try and raise the profile of the campaign through contacts she has in the local business community.’

Campaign members are seeking volunteers to help hold clipboards and take down fans’ details at Saturday’s fixture.

The information will be put into the 12th Man’s online database.

Bill Gillon, owner of Pompey Online, said: ‘Keeping hold of Jason Pearce, Joel Ward and Stephen Henderson during the transfer window will show the players are up for the fight too.’

Pompey have introduced ticket offers for Saturday’s game. A family of four – two adults and two children – can buy a ticket for £44, and season ticket holders can take a junior for £2.

I understand the situation, but it's a shame that the family offer only happens on a low profile game. It cost me over 60 quid for two tickets for the scum game, yet I could take my whole family of four for just 44 pounds. Wen I tries to get thru the phone line went dead after listening to that bloody Adele wailing away, so I gave up and decided to take lunch out this Saturday afternoon instead. The fans aren't cared about that much because we know nothing about whats happening so I can't be too bothered about spending my hard earned on them, sorry but thats my opinion and I,m entitled to it, just as much as a scummer has the right to support the scum !!!
