Meeting to discuss options for Pompey’s future is underway
AN historic meeting is due to take place between Pompey fans, business leaders and politicians with a view to saving the club.
Pompey’s parent company, CSI, went into administration in November last year, and the search has been on to find a new owner to take over at Fratton Park.
On January 3 this year the club was handed a winding-up petition from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs over a £1.6m unpaid tax bill.
And now fans are working hard to find out how to either take over the club with community buyout, or on how to resurrect the club should it be forced into liquidation.
Pompey Supporters Trust will be attending the meeting, as will Colin Farmery from Fansonline.net.
Trust spokesman Scott Mclachlan said: ‘The Pompey Supporters Trust are pleased to contribute to the meeting that the News have orgainsed today, we recognise it is important to have as many diverse organisations invoved in any plan to help save Portsmouth Football Club.’
Also at the meeting will be council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson, Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage, Mike Dyer and Ian Peach from Verisona Solictors, Andrew Mutch of Affinion International, Jo Burfitt from Warings and Gary Jeffries from Hughes Ellard.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 06:04 PMJust a thought, we need HMRC to look at the club or the supporters of the club in a sympathetic manner, so why don't we start a petition of government to get Football Assosciation to change this stupid Football Creditors Rule. I don't necessarily mean scrap the rule, but at least look into making it a fairer system for all creditors. I believe that this rule is universally detested by all tax payers and you never know we may even garner more support from the rest of the football. As I say, just a thought.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 05:35 PMNot too expansive to say that the whole of Portsmouth and many places beyond the City are hoping that something positive can come out of this.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 05:28 PMA few days ago we were saying that a £100m fortune was not enough to buy and run Pompey. So I hope the chaps around the table have got a bit more than that. Otherwise Cala would be a better bet, from that point of view... In other words...

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 05:19 PMIt's encouraging, unfortunately we need hard currency to get out of trouble. I'm more than happy to put some money in, even in these expensive times, but only to where it can properly be used to help the club and not just to line someones pocket. Think this applies to a lot of supporters.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 05:12 PMGood luck! I honestly believe this could work if it's necessary, (as long as it is not too late) although hopefully a new owner will emerge. At least anything achieved today can be put on the back burner for future use if it is needed.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 05:05 PMI cynically thought 'What's the point?'........ the point is that everything needs to be tried. We are in dire straights, so whilst I am still unsure that this will do any good, I am pleased there is the will to try. Thanks to those involved for giving their time and I hope a workable solution is broughtoot bear. If it doesn't appear, then thanks anyway,; I appreciate it.
