TV expert stages ball to help trust
A glitzy black tie ball is being held to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust – and John Cameron, Portsmouth-based expert on BBC programme Cash In The Attic, has a personal reason for organising it.
He is a national patron for the charity, and is keen to help because his eight-year-old niece has the condition.
John, 38, said: 'My niece Jamie-Leigh Usher has undergone numerous operations, has to endure twice-daily physiotherapy sessions and takes a regular cocktail of drugs and enzymes to prevent fits and help her body digest and process food.
'It's really heart-wrenching to witness but she never moans and is always the life and soul of the party, singing and performing little shows.'
The ball will be held on April 18 at the Marriott Hotel, North Harbour, Portsmouth.
There will be a raffle and auction prizes including four VIP tickets to a Girls Aloud concert at the 02 Arena and entertainment from a Frank Sinatra-style singer.
Tickets cost 80 each and include a four-course meal and wine.
