Ricky Harding is doing a sky dive to raise money for Sophia-Rose who has cerebral palsy.

Caring Ricky Harding is taking the plunge and jumping out of a plane for a little girl.

Ricky, from Bedhampton, is taking part in a sky dive for his friend’s daughter, Sophia-Rose Cook.

Sophia-Rose, aged three, suffers from cerebral palsy and is due to undergo surgery in the summer.

But her family need to raise at least £22,000 for the surgery and then thousands more for aftercare.

To help out Ricky, who is friends with Sophia-Rose’s mum Juliette, is doing a sky dive.

He has already raised £1,700 for the dive on April 17.

And the 22-year-old is looking forward to the jump.

He said: ‘I am nervous because I have never done anything like this before.

‘I have done past fundraisers but they were no more extreme than getting my legs waxed.

‘This is definitely more nerve-racking than that.

‘But I have always wanted to do a sky dive and it was the first idea I had when I thought about fundraising for Sophia-Rose.’

Ricky says he wanted to help because the few minutes he spends coming back to earth will make a massive difference to Sophia-Rose.

He adds: ‘Something like this will make a huge difference to her life.

‘This operation is a big thing and she deserves it.

‘She will really benefit from it so I was definitely up for helping out.’

Ricky has already raised £1,700 by asking work colleagues and family to sponsor him.

But he thinks he will reach his £4,000 target because there are more people he is yet to ask.

He says: ‘I have set the target because I think I have a good chance of reaching it.

‘I have already got nearly half, which is great.

‘With a few more weeks until the dive and lots more friends to ask, I’m feeling confident that I can reach the £4,000.’

Ricky has been talking to Sophia-Rose about the jump and he says she is excited about it.

‘I have told her I am doing it and she is excited,’ he says.

‘I don’t think she knows anyone who has done this so she is excited.

‘Juliette, who I met through my girlfriend, is also excited and really appreciative.

‘I have had fantastic support from everyone.’

Ricky has also helped out with a family fun day that Juliette is organising.

He will be getting his legs waxed to help raise money.
